After the paint, the engraving is my second passion because it does not stop giving me of the dream. The unexpected arises constantly and the rendering of the engraved work never ceases to surprise me.
The ambient temperature and the humidity in the workshop, the degree of acidity of baths, type of material of the plates and finally textures of the paper bring their own uncertainties and there is, till the end, a fascinating tension between what I want to say and that the material is willing to give me.
I explore and I play with all the techniques by mixing them freely: I give full place to the graphics by the dry point and the chisel, and the material by the carborundum, aquatint and sugar ink. At first, I was fascinated by the infinity of the nuances that can be obtained in the blacks and whites but finally I chose to make a painter's engraving, in colors, because it allows me to explore better the immense diversity of the Universe I try to express.
